Frequently Asked Questions
Who belongs to the Kentucky Chamber? Any company concerned with the rising costs of government mandates and regulations, health insurance, workers’ comp, and taxes should be a member of the Kentucky Chamber. We represent more than 2,700 member businesses that employ more than half of Kentucky’s workforce. From family-owned shops to Fortune 500 companies in virtually every industry in the state, our members share a vested interested in enhancing Kentucky’s ability to compete on a national and global scale.
What are the key benefits and services offered by the Kentucky Chamber? The Kentucky Chamber protects your company at the legislative level. Approximately 80 percent of legislation that affects your business is passed at the state level. That’s why the Kentucky Chamber consistently invests more on lobbying each year than any other association in the state. Our experienced team of lobbyists reviews thousands of pieces of legislation for you and makes sure the business community’s voice is heard in the state legislature.
We also offer a comprehensive program of seminars and publications to keep you and your staff well informed on Kentucky laws, regulations, human resource issues and best practices (members receive a 25% discount on Chamber seminars and publications). Kentucky Chamber members also have access to exclusive money-saving Chamber Power Buys, and we keep you informed on the latest legislative news through our newsletters and updates.
By joining the local chamber, am I also a member of the Kentucky Chamber? No. Local and state chambers operate independently and have different priorities. Local chambers tend to focus on community issues, such as economic development and downtown revitalization. State chambers concentrate on state legislative issues, such as workers’ compensation, business taxation and insurance regulations. However, businesses that have less than 10 employees and are members of their local chamber can obtain an associate membership to the Kentucky Chamber through their local chamber.
