Rep. Jeff Hoover was elected to serve in the Kentucky House of Representatives in 1996, and is currently serving his sixth term representing Clinton and Russell Counties and a portion of Pulaski County.
Hoover has a unique distinction within the General Assembly. Both of his parents were elected to serve in the House of Representatives. His father, Welby, was elected in 1986 but died just weeks before he was to take office. Representative Hoover’s mother, Mae, then won a special election and served for two years.
In 1999, after just one term in the House, Hoover was chosen by his colleagues to serve in a leadership position as House Republican Caucus Chair. In 2001 he was elected to serve as House Republican Floor Leader and has since been re-elected three times. He is a member of the Interim Joint Committee on Judiciary, the House Committee on Committees, Rules Committee and a member of the Legislative Research Commission.
A 1982 graduate of Centre College and a 1987 graduate of Cumberland School of Law, he is a member of the First Baptist Church of Russell Springs and the Russell County Jaycees. Hoover is an attorney practicing law in Jamestown where he resides with his wife Karyn and daughters Blair, Ryan, and Evan.
