Sen. Ed Worley has served as state senator of the 34th District since 1999 and currently is the Democrat floor leader. Worley represents Madison, Rockcastle and Lincoln counties, and serves on the State and Local Government Committee; the Transportation Committee; SCOPE; EAARS; the Rules Committee and the Committee on Committees. He also serves on the Kentucky Delegate Southern Growth Policy Board.
He was born and raised in Pike County and is a graduate of Belfry High School. Worley holds a Bachelor’s degree in political science from Eastern Kentucky University. He previously worked for 14 years as Richmond’s city manager, and under his guidance, the city became one of the fastest-growing communities in Kentucky.
In his spare time, Worley is active in youth activities. He currently serves on the Little League Executive Committee, and is a member of the Board of Directors for the Richmond Industrial Development Corporation.
Worley, a general contractor, is married to Rockcastle County native Jamie Mullins Worley, a guidance counselor at Model High School. The couple has two children, Preston and Lauren. They reside in Richmond and attend First Christian Church.
